Mission Statement PDF Print E-mail

The Old Brick Store is a mission driven community supported enterprise.  Our mission is to provide Convenience with a Conscience.  We want to be more than just a convenience store—we want to be a full service grocery store, offering all the essentials to our neighbors.  We offer fresh produce, fresh bread, local meats and cheeses, sustainable products and organic products, as well as conventional options.

The Charlotte community has been a valuable resource in the revitalization of the Old Brick Store.  90 families became a part of the Old Brick Store by committing funds to the renovation project.  Memberships are converted to store credit with an additional 10% added, with the understanding that each member family will limit purchased to 10% of the membership investment.  Membership dollars provided funding for the cleaning and renovation of the store, as well as the initial stocking of the shelves.

The Old Brick Store is intent on upholding the three pillars of sustainability—Community, Economy, and the Environment.  By working with the community to create a strong meeting place that responds to customer needs and provides necessary products, by promoting the purchase of local products and employing local help and by creating the most energy efficient systems possible as well as offering products that are kinder to our earth, we hope to become a model for sustainable small business right here in the state of Vermont.
